Melissa Cheng
Melissa Cheng is a New York-based flutist, music educator, and arts administrator.
As an orchestral player, she has performed in venues both local and international including Carnegie Hall, Berliner Philharmonie, Boston Symphony Hall, and Smetana Hall. Melissa is an award-winning soloist, including named finalist at the New York Flute Club Young Artist’s Competition. She has performed with various chamber groups at venues around New York City and Long Island including The Frick Collection and Hempstead House at Sands Point Preserve.
Melissa is passionate about bringing music into her local communities and has partnered with “From the Top’s” community outreach program and provides music at the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island and The Bristal Assisted Living at North Hills. Outside of performing, she has worked as an arts administrator in the education programs for American Ballet Theatre and Kaufman Music Center. A dedicated educator herself, she currently maintains an active private studio for flute and piano students.
Melissa received her B.M. at Boston University and M.M. from Mannes School of Music.
