Pedro Vizzarro Vallejos

Pedro is an Argentine-American violist. He regularly performs in a variety of styles: orchestral repertoire with the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, chamber-dance collaborations with Artists By Any Other Name, new compositions with the Curiosity Cabinet, authentic tangos with Binelli’s Astoria Tango Orchestra, and Dominican folk music with La Camerata Washington Heights.

His recent performances include concerts in Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park, The Gardner Museum (Boston), BAM Fishman Space, Grainger Studios (Adelaide) and the Adelaide Town Hall. He’s appeared twice as soloist with La Camerata Washintion Heights at Aaron Davis Hall in City College. In 2017, he helped in the founding of the Young Artist Exchange festival in Adelaide, Australia, where he is faculty.

He is a founding member of the Washington Heights Community Conservatory, where he teaches violin and viola. The Conservatory offers full scholarships and instruments to all its students in the community. As an arranger, his most recent project involved reducing Debussy’s La Boîte à Joujoux ballet into a piano quintet with auxiliary percussion (collaboration with Harmonnia Junus). It had its staged premier in Adelaide Symphony Orchestra’s Grainger Studio. He has degrees from Hunter and Brooklyn College, where he studied privately with Ji-Hyun Son and chamber music with Fred Zlotkin.
