Tim McCarthy
French Hornist Tim McCarthy performs regularly throughout the New York area with numerous orchestras and opera companies as well as contemporary music and chamber ensembles.
He has served as principal horn with the Orchestra of the S.E.M Ensemble, School of American Ballet, New England Symphonic Ensemble, Gateway Classical Music Society, Blue Hill Troupe, Orchestra of the Bronx and Bronx Opera. McCarthy has collaborated with many notable chamber ensembles including Elysium Brass (where he is a founding member), New York Philomusica, Pastiche, the Doansburg Chamber Ensemble and since 2005, the Majestic Brass.
He has appeared as a guest soloist with the Orchestra of the Bronx as well as in recital in the UK and Poland as well as locally in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey. He can be heard on a number of recordings ranging from pop to classical to contemporary music and has premiered works for the Koch, Mode Records and Newport Classics labels. Currently Mr. McCarthy is on the faculty of The Children’s Orchestra Society in Manhasset, NY and at the Third Street Settlement in Manhattan.
